Chas Lutter – 2015 90 Day Challenge

Before Essay

I have wanted to do the 90 day challenge for a couple of years now, but I have always had excuses to miss deadlines. After all, a challenge such as this is quite a commitment and I just wouldn’t dedicate that much of my time to exercise. I would like to do the challenge now because I don’t want to think about it anymore. I do not want to look back and think “if I had only stuck with it, I wonder what I would look and feel like today. Who would I be?”

This time is different. Now not only am I accountable to myself, but Bodyworks and my family as well. I know I will need to learn new habits. I need to treat food as fuel not entertainment, and put in the work. I know my body is strong enough. I have support from my husband, and the lord has steadfast my mind. In 1 Corinthians 9:24 the bible says “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.”

Now is the time to make the change for the better. and take this challenge so that I can be my best. I am a mother of two, and want my family to be strong together. I want to be a positive influence on my children and have them be pillars of health in an ever increasing obese world. I have a family history riddled with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. That puts a fear in me. I can be the change so my kids will have a better chance at health. NO EXCUSES. I’M READY!

After Essay

This ninety day challenge has been a great experience for me. At the beginning of the challenge, I was very excited. There were days though that the best choices to make were not the easiest or the most fun. As the saying goes, nothing worthwhile is ever easy. Once I got beyond the growing pains though it became a routine. I found myself most challenged when it came to parties and family get togethers. It is not the easiest thing to turn down a piece of cake at a birthday party or search for the healthiest options when eating out if that is not what your circle of people is used to doing. I did not want to bother people about calories, but people were friendly about it and it did not seem to be a bother. It really is important to know what we are putting into our bodies. I learned what exactly my body needs to be healthy, and it quickly became an easy routine for me to keep track of my calories. I wanted to make healthier choices because of how hard I was working at the gym. I have enjoyed going to the gym and gave myself a strict routine to follow. It is fun to compete with myself. I have never in my life been able to do a push up, and now I can do fifteen. I can run four miles! This is awesome for me in just ninety days. I am stronger now and have so much more energy. I wanted to join the challenge just to see if I could stick to an active gym schedule and eat right for just ninety days. I did it and will not stop now! It is so important to learn discipline, something that does not come natural to me. I will continue on this path because I feel great.

This ninety day challenge at Bodyworks has truly made a huge impact on my life physically. I am about to do my first ever 5K and I know it will be a breeze for me. I have learned a lot and my family has been with me through every day of this. We make a lot of our meals together now, even the two year old helps. I am grateful for Bodyworks and especially the Kids Club. Knowing that my kids are safe and having fun made it possible for me to go exercise.

Three of the most important ladies in my life, my mom, baby sister, and mother in law have all seen the changes that I have made in my life. They have all been inspired to make changes in their own lives as well. This is the most important advice I can give someone on this topic. If you have people in your life that you care about, and you want them to make better choices for their lives, then you be the example. I have become a leader, and we will all be better because of this.
